Wise member VH Graddon and Sons Vending Ltd won ‘Family Business of the Year’

Congratulations go out to Wise member VH Graddon and Sons Vending Ltd who won ‘Family Business of the Year’ in the Herald Business Awards 2014.

The company was set up in 1940 by Victor Harold Graddon who bottled and delivered milk in Plymouth. He later changed from bottles to cartons and sold to his customers using vending machines. From there his company has grown and now employs over 40 staff.

His sons John and Ken ran the business through the 70s, 80s and 90s followed by grandson David who has been in charge for 14 years. David’s son Chris has been with the company for 10 years and was recently joined by his sister Brooke.

The company’s sustained success impressed the judges, who awarded them winners of the category for businesses created and still managed by family members.

“VH Graddon and Sons has grown to become something of a Plymouth institution and is welcoming in a new generation,” said Paul Burton editor of The Herald.
