When looking at the future of vending machines, we briefly explored the ways in which vending machines might make use of green technologies. For example, through using hydrocarbon and carbon dioxide based refrigeration in place of standard HFCs, Coca-Cola aim to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of their vending machines by 99%. The company is also experimenting with solar panels and even natural moss insulation to reduce the amount of energy required to power their vending machines.

We have always wondered – can vending machines help the environment? Going forward, it seems that they can, but only to the extent that they can reduce their environmental impact through being cheaper and more efficient to run. How Vending Can Help the Environment

  • Ensure that our fleet is as fuel efficient as possible, undertaking regular maintenance and servicing in order to minimise emissions.
  • Commit to an ethical supply chain, using and supporting only suppliers with a sound environmental policy.
  • Make use of biodegradable chemicals and materials wherever possible.

On top of this, we are fully compliant with the EU’s Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive, and we are committed to ensuring that all of our fridges and machinery is disposed of through the proper channels.

Finally, we are constantly striving to promote environmental awareness amongst our customers, actively encouraging them to adopt flexible and efficient environmental management systems.
